Kyle’s Cottage – Broome
Family respite accommodation
We understand that going on a holiday when having a child going through treatment and therapy for a life-threatening illness can be financially difficult. It is also difficult when families have recently experienced the bereavement of losing a child.
The Kyle Andrews Foundation provides a week of complimentary holiday accommodation for eligible families with children.
This cottage is also available to nursing staff working in the Oncology Ward at the Perth Children’s Hospital for a minimal cost.
Respite for families and carers is so important for the health of everyone.
We want the families to be able to have the option to go on a holiday, escape the day-to-day stress, to have a break and recuperate. Often children who have been on Kyle’s Camp share photos, videos and stories of their exciting trip and want to return with their family. Kyle’s Cottage was set up for this purpose, to support unwell children with a family holiday in Broome or for families who have suffered a recent bereavement.
The cottage is a large, modern, fully furnished and tastefully decorated three bedroom, two bathroom, open plan living residence with facilities for people with a disability. Of course – we have a swimming pool because we think that’s an important element to having a great holiday!
The cottage can accommodate up to 8 people and is self-contained; all you need to bring is your personal clothing, toiletries and provide your own food on arrival.
We’d like to thank the tremendous support from local Broome businesses and people that donated their time, money, materials and goods to the development of the cottage and to those businesses who provide ongoing maintenance support of the home. The Broome community are incredibly proud of this home and what it provides to Western Australian families.
